Abstract
Benoit Frydman recounts his intellectual exchanges with Mireille Delmas-Marty, notably her participation in Chaïm Perelman's legal logic seminar in Brussels since the 1980s. He demonstrates how her early work on legal concepts with variable content, inspired by Eugène Dupréel's 'confused notions', influenced her seminal book 'Le flou du droit' (1986) and her subsequent engagement with global law theory. During her tenure at the Perelman Chair (1996-1997), Delmas-Marty developed her major concept of 'ordered pluralism', which rejects Kelsenian monism in favor of a multiplicity of legal orders in mutual adjustment through harmonization, initiating one of the major currents in contemporary global legal studies.
