Abstract
This text presents a collective work that examines the growing role of technical norms (standards) and management and classification devices (indicators) in the regulation of contemporary societies, challenging the traditional focus of legal philosophy and theory on classical sources. Edited by Benoit Frydman and Arnaud Van Waeyenberge, the volume adopts the pragmatic methodology of the Brussels School to analyze how these alternative forms of normativity compete with legal rules and institutions, especially in transnational and global contexts. The work seeks to bridge the gap between legal theory and the contemporary realities of regulation through technical standards and indicators, ranging from ISO norms to financial rating agencies and global rankings.

Este texto apresenta uma obra coletiva que examina o papel crescente das normas técnicas (standards) e dos dispositivos de gestão e classificação (indicadores) na regulação das sociedades contemporâneas, desafiando o foco tradicional da filosofia e teoria do direito nas fontes clássicas. Sob direção de Benoit Frydman e Arnaud Van Waeyenberge, o volume adopta a metodologia pragmática da Escola de Bruxelas para analisar como essas formas alternativas de normatividade concorrem com as regras e instituições jurídicas, especialmente em contextos transnacionais e globais. A obra busca preencher a lacuna entre a teoria do direito e as realidades contemporâneas de regulação através de standards técnicos e indicadores, desde as normas ISO até agências de notação financeira e rankings globais.
